Southern Oregon artist and woodcarver, Jani Brown, has been an award-winning artist from an early age and went on to study art in college. She paints in several media including watercolor, oil, acrylic and pastel. Her affinity for Santa Claus drew her to carve his likeness in wood beginning in 1993, and she has collectors around the globe vying for her latest creations. She has sold carvings at various festivals and shows in the West. After a 30 year career in retail, she became a full-time, professional carver. Jani’s love of two-dimensional art was rekindled in 2007 after taking several watercolor workshops. She enjoys the spontaneity of watercolors and pastels but also is returning to work in oils. As a member of the Plein Air Painters of the Umpqua (PAPU) she joins local artists at various locations in Douglas County to capture the beauty of Southern Oregon.
